MTBE

MTBE (Methyl Tertiary-Butyl Ether) is a high-quality, high-octane gasoline additive used to increase octane rating and improve engine performance.

It is a key component in unleaded gasoline (95/98 octane) and currently constitutes about 10% of the gasoline blend in Israel.

Dor Chemicals is the largest producer of MTBE in Israel, supplying it to the country’s two main refineries—both from its own production and through complementary imports, based on market demand.

The transition to MTBE in place of lead-based compounds marked a major environmental and public health advancement.
The additive significantly reduces emissions of toxic pollutants from vehicle exhaust systems, thereby improving air quality and contributing to public health protection.
