MTBE is a high-octane gasoline additive that blends seamlessly into unleaded fuels. It’s a central component in the production of 95/98 octane unleaded gasoline, currently constituting around 10% of Israel’s gasoline composition.
Dor Chemicals is Israel’s largest MTBE producer, supplying both of the country’s refineries—through its own manufacturing and supplementary imports—to meet the Israeli gasoline market’s demand.
The use of MTBE replaces lead-based compounds formerly used to boost octane levels, significantly reducing emissions of harmful toxins from vehicle exhaust.
